BCRS (Beverage Container Return Scheme) information
Dear valued customers, the rollout of the Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS) in Singapore is a vital step in our journey toward a circular economy, ensuring our plastic bottles and aluminum cans are collected and recycled.
To ensure a smooth transition for your business, please take note of the following critical dates and operational changes:
1.
The 10¢ Deposit Fee
From 1 April 2026, all regulated beverages (plastic bottles and metal cans from 150ml to 3L) will gradually feature the official BCRS Deposit Mark.
• Deposit Value: A $0.10 refundable deposit will be applied to each eligible container.
• Deposit Application: Only products bearing the BCRS label and new barcode will carry the $0.10 deposit. Products without the label should continue to be sold at their standard price without a deposit.
• Invoicing: This $0.10 deposit is GST-exempt and will be reflected as a separate line item on our invoices to you.
2.
Managing the Transition (April – September 2026)
BCRS will undergo a 6-month transition period (ending 30 September 2026). During this time:
• From 1 April 2026, various beverage containers will start to transition to BCRS-compliant packaging. You may see both "Old" (No Deposit) and "New" (BCRS Labeled) stock on your shelves.
• From 1 October 2026, all beverage containers in the market will fully transition to BCRS-compliant packaging.
• Additionally, any subsequent price increase due to the implementation of the Beverage Container Return Scheme shall apply only to BCRS-compliant products.
Should you have any questions regarding your upcoming orders or the labelling transition, please contact your account manager or visit the official BCRS website at www.bcrs.sg.
